DIY daily shower cleaner
We’re all busy. Who has time to deep clean anymore?
When daily shower cleaner hit the shelves I formed an instant bond, for scrubbing showers is my least favourite cleaning activity. Still, a nice, sparkling bathroom is worth the effort. I’m just glad I don’t have to put all my muscle into it anymore. I’ll let the spray do the heavy lifting, thank you very much.
For a while I’ve wanted to find a good DIY recipe, not because the price of daily shower cleaner is huge (around $5 a bottle), but because I’m the curious sort who wants to understand what makes this product so amazing.
There are quite a few recipes online, which made it difficult to choose what to try. In the end they all use two or more of the following ingredients.
- Water
- Vinegar
- Dish soap
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Rubbing alcohol
After a few tries I found a combination I am happy with.
Robyn’s DIY daily shower cleaner
Here is what you need
- Empty spray bottle
- 1 cup white vinegar
- ½ cup rubbing alcohol
- ½ cup hydrogen peroxide
- 1 tbsp dish soap
- Water
Here is what you do
- Mix everything but the water into the spray bottle
- Once all the ingredients are in fill the rest of the bottle with water
- Replace the lid and shake well
- Spray on shower walls after showers and leave (start with a clean shower for best results!)
It has only been a couple weeks using this formula but I can see the results already. My only negative at this point is that a strong vinegar smell lingers. Online I’ve seen similar complaints and the solution seems to be 10-15 drops of essential oil added to the mixture. I find leaving the fan on for 15 minutes also does the trick.

Thanks for this! I will give it a try. I much prefer the smell of vinegar over those windexy-chemical-smelling cleaners … but if you find an essential oil that works well, let me know!
Cheers,
K.
P.S. Maybe you should consider writing a Swift Kick Guide about DIY home cleaners/systems/more 😉

Me too Kathleen! In fact my home often smells of a fish n chip shop after a big clean and I am totally okay with that!
Robyn
Thanks Kathleen, trust me I’ve been considering it!

Add a few drops of lemon juice. It eliminates the vinegar smell.
Robyn
I will try it, thanks Tieta!

This DIY daily shower cleaner looks quite good to me, and I will invest my time to make this. If I make this now, then I won’t have to spend money on getting a different shower cleaner, and I think that’s great for me.
