DIY wedding: painted mason jars
Painted mason jars add a vintage feel to any wedding reception table and are super easy to do. Here’s a few simple ways to paint your mason jars to match your wedding decor.
Use your mason jars to hold flowers, candles or as glasses for drinks – just make sure that in this case, paint is only on the outside of the jar.
Here is what you need
Note that you don’t need all of these supplies for every mason jar craft
- Mason jars
- Paint
- Spray paint
- Paint brush
- Newspaper
- Vinegar
- Spray bottle
I found jars on my local Used.ca site for free and bought the paint supplies at the dollar store.
Painted mason jar
Pour a small amount of paint into your mason jar.
Tilt your mason jar downwards at a slight angle and then move the paint around until the entire jar is covered. This method makes sure the jar is evenly coated. Let it sit over night and that’s all there is to it!
You can also create a cool paint drip effect by only coating half of the mason jar.
Spray paint and vintage distressed paint mason jar
Place your mason jar upside down on a piece of newspaper. Make sure it’s in a ventilated area or outside.
Spray the jar using even strokes to avoid dripping. Leave overnight to dry.
For a distressed vintage look, alternate between spray paint and a white vinegar water mix in a spray bottle. Use a cloth to create texture.
Polka dot painted mason jar
To add some pizzazz to your mason jars, create some glitter polka dots or stars after you’ve finished painting them.
These are just a few simple ways to spruce up your wedding reception tables and add a personal touch. Keep your eyes peeled on the free section of your local Used.ca site to score some unwanted mason jars, often they are listed without lids, which is perfect for these crafts.
