Expert tips: how to place an ad on our sites
There are two ways to place an ad on your local Used.ca site. You can sign up for an account and post ads through your account, or place an ad without an account. When you create an account, all of your personal information is saved, so you do not have to reenter it each time you sell. This option is great for users who have multiple ads to post. If you do not want to create an account, just click the “Place an Ad” button to begin.
First choose the category and subcategory that best describes what you are posting. This is important so that people browsing ads can easily find your ad.
Enter your ad details:
- Include your asking price; is your item free, for sale or for trade? You also have the option to participate in #UsedHelps, and donate the proceeds of your sale to the charity of your choice
- Enter a descriptive title and a concise description of your item
- Include your preferred contact information. If you only want to be contacted by phone, then uncheck the “receive emails” button
- Include your postal code so a map will be added to your ad to let potential buyers where you are located
To increase the views that your ad will receive, it is important to upload photos. You can include up to eight photos. If you are looking to increase your ad’s visibility, we also offer optional paid upgrades.
If not signed into your account, create a password that will be useful when editing your ad. If this is your first time using the site you will have to verify your email address. It will take a few minutes for our system to post your ad. Share your ad with friends and family on social media with our handy share tools.
Happy selling!

I’ve listed a vehicle on used Cowichan.Id like to expand my ad to other Vancouver island locations?

Hi, if you would like to post the same ad to various city sites, you can do so but you must post the ad individually to each site. There is currently no option to post one ad to various city sites at the same time. If you ever have any other questions please feel free to email our user experience team at feedbacks@used.ca.

I’ve tried numerous times to set up an account but each time I try, I’m told that the password is already registered. I can’t understand why this could happen because the passwords I tried are variations of personal information. Any suggestions?

Hi William, thanks for reaching out. Can you please send our team an email at feedbacks@used.ca with a screenshot of the error message so that we can look into this further? We look forward to hearing from you!
