VICTORIA, B.C. –  April 16, 2013

UsedVictoria.com announced today that they will once again be participating in the Victoria Earth Day Showdown on Friday, April 19, 2013 from noon to 1 p.m.

With Earth Day on April 22, the UsedVictoria.com team is getting a head start on April 19 and will join other Victoria businesses along with ViSTA (Victoria Sustainable Tourism Alliance) founding members from Harbour Air Seaplanes, Eagle Wing Whale Watching, Inn at Laurel Point and Helijet to create a city wide event that encourages environmental awareness and stewardship.

“This year we’re stepping it up a notch,” said Lacey Sheardown, Director of Marketing for Used.ca. “Our previous participation was a great start and we want to make a larger impact with two separate teams working on simultaneous projects.”

One of the the UsedVictoria.com teams will be renting a truck and removing larger household items that have been abandoned in public spaces near downtown Victoria. If the items are in good condition, they’ll then be posted on UsedVictoria.com under the free items section for anyone to claim. Items that are ready to be recycled will be dropped off by the team for proper disposal.  

A second UsedVictoria.com team will be working on foot. The street team will be patrolling downtown Victoria wearing their signature purple UsedVictoria.com t-shirts and picking up trash.
